Assuming, as you suggest that the game is over with respect to whether or not healthcare is a right, it looks to me like there's only one consequential difference between you and Pethokoukis. He thinks that "Conservatives will spend the rest of their lives trying to turn things around and they will fail.” You simply assert that despite buying into healthcare as a fairness proposition, when conservatives get through explaining that Kennedy-Baucus means bigger government, those same voters will rise up to reject it because they're Americans, after all, not Europeans.
I'd say the jury on who is going to look stupid, and who is not, is still decidedly out.
